If you suspect an adverse reaction, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
Aligner chewies are a soft chewing device the size of a cotton roll that should be used by our clients who are being treated with MOD Mouth Clear aligners™.
It is a small cylinder made of a soft spongy plastic like material called Styrene Copolymer.
The function of the clear aligner chewie is to eliminate the air space between the MOD Mouth aligner and the teeth.
The chewie provides a more comfortable and efficient method to provide a uniform force to seat the aligner properly.
How to use them – Daily usage
-
The chewie should be used
at least twice a day. When the aligner is put back in after eating the chewie should be used to bite the aligner firmly into position. Position the chewie between your teeth (either ‘longways’ or ‘shortways’ and bite down. Move it from one end of your mouth to the other continuing to bite up and down until you have bitten on it with all of your teeth. Then go back and do it again. It is important that the aligner is fully seated onto the tooth so that it can then be effective in moving the teeth. The chewie should be used for at least 2 minutes each time. In addition, the chewie should be used at night before going to sleep for 2-5 minutes. The chewie is small enough to fit into the MOD Mouth case with the aligner so it can be carried with you throughout the day.
- Problem focused area usage
- The chewie can also be used to problem shoot an area where the aligner is not fully engaging. Follow the directions above and then spend an extra few sessions a day engaging the problem area(s) with the chewie.
- Clean your chewies
- Chewies are reusable and can be cleaned under room temperature water. If you need more you can purchase chewie packets at any Brilliant Bar store location!
